The Office of Public Works, Dublin North City Architects engaged The Roof Centre to provide an ECO friendly roof refurbishment system for the East and West Wings of The Custom House.
The building is the head office for the Department of Environment who had decided to upgrade the roof prior to installation of Photovoltaic Panels.

The development comprises an L-shaped building of 3,000 sq.m, a laboratory wing and an administration wing joined at a glazed central concourse.
The roof top plant room is clad in an aluminium louvre system to give a consistent appearance and high quality finish. The flat roof and internal floor of the plantroom is weathered with an IKO Warm Roof System.

Known to generate heat these buildings must be retained at controlled temperatures with roof mounted AHU's. To reduce the energy consumption and stress on the units DMOD Architects specified the IKO Cool Roof System.

Due to the complexity of the interface junctions with existing buildings and inverted Roof System was chosen for the flat surface and IKO Warm roof system to the sloped roofs.

The project involved the removal of a 10 year old membrane system and replacement with New IKO system to the secondary school roof.
The junior school roof to the rear consisted of asbestos sheeting which was also removed and replaced with Kingzip Merlin grey Panel.
